Your data is more useful when your AI can see it. But "useful" shouldn't mean "handed over." Brain connects to your own assistant through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) — an open standard for giving AI tools scoped, revocable access to real systems.
What that means in practice
Point your assistant at your Brain workspace and it can:
- Read and complete your tasks
- Search your notes and books
- Add journal entries and log interactions
- Pull your reading stats and goals
All through a defined set of tools — not a blanket dump of your database.
Your data stays yours
Two principles sit underneath this:
- Never sold, never used to train models. Your workspace is not a dataset.
- You hold the keys. Access is scoped and revocable. Turn it off and the connection is gone.
The point of a second brain is leverage, not surveillance. MCP lets you get the leverage of a capable assistant while keeping the boundary exactly where you want it.
